The stampede occurred after a brawl broke out among spectators after a contested referee's decision, according to local media sources. Social media posts and videos depict tumultuous scenes outside the stadium, with many people on the ground and sizable crowds trying to scale walls.

There were "bodies lined up as far as the eye can see in the hospital," a doctor who wished to remain anonymous told the AFP news agency.
Others are sprawled out on the corridor floors. the morgues are full, said the doctor.

The Prime Minister of Guinea, Mamadou Oury Bah, confirmed the casualties and called for calm. However, the exact number of fatalities remains unknown. Local media reports suggest that the death toll could be in the dozens.

How Did The Incident Happen?

The incident triggered following stones thrown towards the field by visiting team Labé supporters in retaliation against the referee.
